How to Port Out of DCA's Jurisdiction?

Port-Out is the act of transferring your voucher to another Public Housing Authority's (PHA) jurisdiction. In order to be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:

• Have resided in DCA jurisdiction for 1 full year.
• Be in compliance with the program
• Not be in a repayment agreement with DCA
• Be eligible to move (lease obligation fulfilled)
• Have VA approval (VASH Vouchers only)
• Have a voucher type eligible for portability (verify your voucher type with your Housing Specialist)
• Provide DCA with the PHA name (and contact info if available) that you would like to transfer to. 

Once you have completed the form, it can be uploaded along with your Notice to Vacate through the Resident Portal here. 

Participants should allow up to 15 business days for the PHA to process the port out request.

Returning ports that choose to remain in DCA  should allow 15 business days for processing.

Returning ports requesting to port to another jurisdiction should allow 7-10 business days for processing.
