DCA conducts a yearly reexamination of family income and composition also known as recertification. This includes gathering and verifying current information about family composition, income, and
expenses. Based on this updated information, the family’s income and rent must be recalculated.
The following documents are needed to recertify:
- Application and all accompanying forms (DCA provided)
- Income verification for all income sources (zero income form if applicable)
- Asset Verification for all assets
- Child Care out of pocket cost verification (if applicable, failure to provide will forfeit allowance)
- Disability and medical expense verification (if applicable, failure to provide will forfeit allowance)
- Identification verification for new household members (Photo ID, SSC, Birth certificate, etc.)
The recertification process begins 120 days before your lease term ends. For example, if your lease ends 5/31 your recertification date will be 6/1 and a recertification packet will be available120 days before then to allow time for collecting documents and processing. Notification of the annual reexamination will be sent by email and notification through the portal will inform the family of the information and documentation that must be provided to DCA, and the deadline for providing it.
Where to find the Recertification?
As of 11/30/25 at 5PM, all recertification documents must be submitted through MyPortal
If you do not have access to MyPortal, please see the article, How to Register for DCA's Participant Portal through RentCafe? for instructions on how to register.
Once you've logged in to your account, you will have the option to select "Certifications".
The "Certification" can also be found in the drop-down menu.
After selecting "Certifications" you will be taken to this screen. Here you can view and complete your recertification and upload the required documentation. This will also provide both the creation date of the recertification and its due date.
After clicking "View" you will be directed here to complete the recertification application.
The Recertification must be completed in its entirety. Failure to provide the required supporting documents can result in delays or denials.
*DCA will notify the family, if any required documentation or information is missing. The missing information or documentation must be provided within 10 business days of the date DCA notifies the family. If the family is unable to obtain the information or materials within the required time frame, the family may request an extension and provide documentation to support your request.
