Requests for tenancy approval must be submitted to DCA in order to initiate an inspection and a contract. Move-ins that occur prior to the RFTA submission and unit inspection, are not covered by Housing Assistance Payments.
Once an RFTA is submitted to DCA, please allow 15-30 business days for the RFTA to be processed. The process includes a review of the documents, a rent comparable, an affordability test, and contract negotiation (if necessary).
If approved, inspectors will contact the landlord within 2 business days. If a unit fails the initial inspection, the landlord is permitted 10 days to correct the deficiencies. Please contact the landlord for confirmation of corrections. The re-inspection must be requested by the landlord.
